Spay/Neuter Day with Animal Kingdom Foundation

Sometimes it takes a village to help just one dog; what more for 171 dogs rescued from an illegal dog-fighting ring?  CARA Welfare recently teamed up with Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), Inc. to conduct a Spay/Neuter Day at the Laguna Pit Bull Rehabilitation Center in Batangas.

AKF is the local affiliate of UK-based International Wildlife Coalition Trust. President Charles Wartenberg and manager Greg Quimpo led the AKF team. Accompanying them were chief vet Dr. Roland Arciga; Dr. Reynaldo Buan, Jr.; Dr. Precy Dizon; and assistant vet Rico Pangan, who set up a MASH-style mobile clinic and performed free sterilization surgery for some of CARA’s rescued pit bulls. A total of 28 dogs were spayed and neutered that day.

In April 2012, CARA took custody of nearly 200 surviving pit bulls and mix breed dogs rescued from an illegal dog fighting operation in San Pablo, Laguna. Under CARA’s Laguna Pit Bull Rehabilitation Project, the dogs are getting the care and medical attention that they need to get a second chance to live out their lives in a safe, loving environment.

CARA would like to thank Charles Wartenberg and the rest of the team from AKF for providing their services to Spay/Neuter dogs at the center.
